Candidate for Manassas City School Board
Vote for Change in 2024!
Dayna Miles
Candidate for
Manassas City School Board
Teacher, MPCS Parent, & Community Volunteer for School Board
My name is Dayna-Marie Miles. I grew up in Reston, but moved to the Manassas area in 2013 and became a homeowner in Manassas City in 2021. I understand the importance of living in a district with good schools. Good schools are important for property and city growth. We need safer schools, high academic standards, and good teachers to keep families in Manassas City. If I am elected, I will ask those tough questions, continue to build on what is working, and make the changes that our school system needs!
Who is Dayna Miles?
Mom of three
As a mom of three, two high schoolers and a rising 6th grader I understand the concerns of parents. My son attends Mayfield Intermediate so I am motivated to see change! Parents should not worry if their child is getting their needs met academically and be forced to pay for private school. Parents should not worry if their child is safe during the school day. A student should not be afraid to attend school because of bullying and lack of consistent consequences for students who chose not to follow classroom rules. If elected I will make sure all parents in Manassas City feel comfortable and confident in the schools they are zoned to!
Experienced Educator
I am an experienced educator who has worked with elementary and high school students in Manassas Park and Prince William County for over 10 years. I prioritize building strong relationships with students and parents, especially those who do not speak English. I believe that community engagement and support can help all students succeed, regardless of their background. I have seen even the most vulnerable students succeed, grow and achieve, when they are given reasonable expectations, strong support, and consistent structure & discipline.
Community Volunteer
I've lived in this area since 2013, and I have experience working with community stakeholders. I've held several leadership positions in education and volunteered in various community outreach activities. I'm currently partnering with Beacon English Services to provide English classes to Manassas Baptist Church and have worked with Legacy Impact to provide teachers for the new evening English classes in Georgetown South. For the past two years, I have held a partnership with the staff at East End Mobile Home Park to provide evening English classes. My desire to serve the community is at the heart of all I do!
